There is Always Hope

Hope is What gets Us Through

As winter is followed by spring

New life begins to grow and bloom

As storms are followed by rainbows

Sunshine comes to chase the gloom

As darkness is followed by light

Cheerful birdsong heralds the day

Then sorrow must be followed by joy

To chase the pain and tears away

As we travel our journey of life

And find we’re on a slippery slope

When we reach the end of our tether

Remember there is always hope

I got a warning that this hub would be flagged beacause it was too short on content. Considering all the Haikus around this is rediculous and I just wish and HOPE hubpages would be consistent with their rules.

I'm pleased you enjoyed the poem

Rosemary,

Loved your poetry.

You make excellent point on your note. Once my hub was unpublished saying it was substandard, the only criteria it met was it was too short. However, the same length hub is getting nice traffic these days.

Rose Mary, this is beautiful indeed. What is joy without sorrow, what is happiness without pain? They are both sides of the same coin of life. But Hope always prevails for those who set their eyes on it!!

Best wishes for a glorious year ahead!!

I needed that today. and I agree I should be able to write a short piece hub if that's what my inspiration leads me to write. it's almost like reverse censorship. so haiku to you and all that!

mary615 profile image

mary615 Level 8 Commenter 4 months ago

OK, it's short, but sweet! Couldn't you just add a few more lines just to make HP happy? I read somewhere that the rule doesn't apply to poetry. Anyway, I liked it!

It is not too short on content at all, Rosemay. If something is worth saying then it is worth saying in as many words or as few words as you wish. By the response you have received, it is obvious to me, to you, and to Hub Pages, that this is worth reading and keeping in one's heart.

Hi Rosemay - firstly a very Happy New Year to you and yours! I hope 2012 is a good one for you!

Secondly - the photograph with the wee one and the dog is so beautiful!!! I hadn't even read your wonderful poem, but the photo had me smiling big time! Anyway, onto your poem. The feelings I have are beautiful and uplifting. But the poem is more than that - it is very true what you have written, even although at times it might not feel like it. It doesn't matter how dark/black/bad things are there is always light, love and hope at the end of it. We just need to keep believing that light will always follow the dark.

A beautiful start to 2012 from your wonderful poem and your lovely photograph!

Morning mhaydock

I hope my poem cheered you today, it is but one day and there is always tomorrow to look forward to.

Yes I agree, sometimes we don't need a large hub to say what we need to say. I just wish they were consistent.

I hope the rest of your day is filled with hope for tomorrow.

Rosemay50 profile image

Rosemay50 Hub Author 4 months ago

Hi Mary

I wrote this poem to say what I wanted it to say and saw no reason to change it or add to it. This contains a lot more words than a 17 syllable Haiku. I didn't jump onto the Haiku fad that is spreading through hubpages. You know me normally my poems are much longer than this and yes the rule does apply to poetry or I wouldn't have received the warning.

However I am pleased you enjoyed the poem.

Have a wonderful evening

Your poem is just the right length, Rosemary, for the message it brings. Beautiful. And speaking of beautiful, that baby is beautiful and that tremendously large dog is beautiful. Warning! If you ever lose the baby, just look underneath the dog!

Rosemay50 profile image

haha if the baby rolled under the dog he would have to stay there. 160lb of fluff, she will not move until SHE is ready to move, I had to vacuum around her. Lol.

Speaking of vacuuming around the dog, have you ever vacuumed her. Maybe get a head start on the hair cleanup. I used to vacuum my dog. This one doesn't like it but my Beau dog used to love it. I also clipped him during the summer and just vacuumed it off as I cut. I think it was cool when I vacuumed.

Rosemay50 profile image

Rosemay50 Hub Author 4 months ago

I was just talking to you over at the cafe Becky and you are here. Lol

No I never vacuumed her, accidently caught her tail now and then. Lol

I used to give her a good brush and she had monthly visits to the groomers for a bath and clipping and she enjoyed the ride in the car, but we would hose her down daily in summer, she would sweat so much.

Becky Katz profile image

Becky Katz Level 8 Commenter 4 months ago

If mine is out when we get in the car, he tries to get in also. Lol It is fine unless Katy is just starting him out for his walks. He goes out only on a leash where we're at. He loves to ride but wants the front passenger seat. Usually that is Dennis' seat. I rode to Illinois with him on my lap.

Rosemay50 profile image

We had a huntaway that always wanted the best seat in the car. Lol His character was like Beau, He would have climbed onto dennis's head too.

What is life without Hope? I have been hopeful and thankful on so many occasions, life is beautiful, but without friendships it's a dull one. I am thankful to have friends like you here at the Hubs to sustain myself and push on. A very beautiful poem and I agree with Fennelseed about the administrators letting up and not sweating the small stuff but considering first and foremost the content of each scribe and the ABUNDANCE of comments left by your loyal fans. Chin Up my dear, you are a wonderful scribe, don't let them pull you down. Happy New Year to you and yours for 2012 and beyond.

Hi Ken

A couple of times I have been lost and without hope and almost given up. But things DO get better, hope returns and and along with it an appreciation of life. Withour friends life is not only dull but empty. I am so grateful for all the friends I have around me and for those I have found like you here on HP.

I am not going to let going to let the small stuff get me down, adding that note was just enough to satisfy them... :-)

Thank you for your kind words.

Wishing you a year of love, happiness, and peace my dear friend.

I love this poem , very pretty and the fact that it rhymes is a plus with me ! On the subject of it being too short , it appears you have done what i usually do , which is your bottom paragraph to them. It seems to me , the left hand at the hub doesnt know what the right hand is doing . The haikus , i dont really care for , if they are poetry then i guess so is this that i am writing to you , except in waaay shorter terms or next to nothing. takes all kinds i guess , but anyway, i voted this up , awesome and beautiful ! Have a wonderful afternoon !:)

Rosemay50 profile image

Rosemay50 Hub Author 4 months ago

Hi Jami Unless I am writing a rictameter I like to rhyme, a bit more of a challenge than a Haiku, which I don't write at all, just too easy, I would get no great satisfaction. But everyone to his own.

Anyway I am pleased you liked this one, thank you for reading and leaving a lovely comment and for the vote.

Take care my friend
