Jing for the Perfect Screenshot Without the Clutter
64How to Capture the Perfect Screenshot Without the Clutter
Most people will know how to take a screenshot of a webpage.
For those who don’t the simplest method is to open the webpage that you want a screenshot of then hold down the control (CTRL) key and at the same time press the ‘print screen’ button. You can then paste this into a word doc.
The only problem with this method is that you also get all the ‘clutter’ the ads, at the side of the page, the top bars and anything else you can see on the screen in front of you. It is not possible to only get the image you want with this method.
There is a very good program called ‘Jing’ from TechSmith which is just perfect for getting the exact shot you want without all the extra bits.
Not only can you capture an image on web pages but also on your own computer..
It is a free download and very easy to use. As you gain more experience with this program you can advance to creating videos. There is, however, a fee for this upgrade.
Taking screenshots using either method will be useful for those publishing tutorials on their hubs. By adding an image your readers can actually see what you are doing. Some will find the visual clarifies the written explanation making your tutorial more effective.
The little Jing sun as I like to think of it sits on you desktop. You can move it and place it wherever you like for ease of use. Then when you need to take a screen shot just follow these instructions
Step by Step
- Have the page that you want to capture as an image on your screen
- To capture that perfect screenshot all you need to do is hover over Jing sun
- You will see 3 little arms span out. Click on the ‘+’ the top one. This will initiate a highlighter on the screen,
- Note: the other 2 are ‘history’ of what you have done previously and the third one asks you to ‘Go Pro’ and get the upgraded version. (Don’t click on this unless you want to ‘Go Pro’)
- Now that you have the page highlighted you are now able to drag this highlighter to capture the exact part of the screen that you want. Just click with your mouse and hold down until you have the exact image you want.
- A tool bar will then appear at the bottom. You then click on the first button which is ‘Capture’ image.
- Once you have done this you will see a tool bar to the left where you have options to frame your image, add arrows or text, and highlight or use colour options.
- When you happy with your captured image and done with the tool options you can move to the toolbar at the bottom, the symbol of the floppy disk is the one you need to click on to save it to either your desktop or any file you wish.
- It will be saved as a PNG image, you will be able to open the PNG image and then save it again as a JPEG to enable you to upload the image to your article on hubpages or other websites or to attach to an email.
Note: If you want to capture a full page, a recipe for instance. You will need to zoom out until you have the whole page in view. However depending on the size it maybe too small to read.
I hope you enjoy using Jing. It is a great fun program to use
