As Phoenix Rising From the Ashes - Poem
75The inspiration for these rictameter poems came from reading another hub published by Vincent Moore just a few moments ago.Through this Door of Silent Tears
My poem is about breaking free of the torment and pain that anyone who has been abused as a child suffers. It is about healing. Turning your back on the past and looking to the future.
Learning to fly free again , with a whole heart.
To Rise Again
To rise
From this hot mire
To douse the flames of pain
As they lick and claw at my soul
And strangle the heart that lies within me
How the memories suffocate
Chaining me to the past
Lord give me strength
To rise
To Awaken
Awake
My crying heart
Fly free of this abyss
Slice the ropes that bond so tightly
Now is the time to cast the torment out
Heal my soul and rise again like
Phoenix from the ashes
And from these tears
Awake
Stepping Through the Door
Step through
The door of past
And throw away the key
No more wasted tears to be shed
For this vessel is now empty and dry
Let light shroud the darkest shadows
Throw open the windows
Do not look back
Step through
Live With a Peaceful heart
With peace
Let the dawn break
Let birdsong fill my ears
Let my eyes see beyond the gloom
Let me take hold of life and celebrate
Let my heart nestle in beauty
Let the sun warm my soul
Let me live now
With peace

EDIT
I wanted to add an extra note to this for those who have suffered abuse as a child
I truly believe that getting rid of all the ‘HATE’ that is deep inside you is the biggest key to finding closure and. peace
Yes I know you really hate (with every ounce of your being) that person who abused you and rightly so.
But that hate is like an abscess full of poison. It eats away at you
You need to ask your self 4 questions just like I did
- Does that person know you hate them?
- Does that person care that you hate them?
- Is that person still alive?
- Who is that hate hurting?
I can’t answer the first 3 for you but I can answer the 4th one.
The ONLY person that HATE is hurting is YOU
I am not asking you to forgive that person or forget what happened, that is your choice, but if you can dig out that abscess of HATE then and only then will the pain start to ease and only then can you start on the road to closure and peace.
This is what I believe from my experience only

What a powerful and inspirational poem about heartache and the ability to overcome the pain of past experiences.
Voted up across the board except for funny.
Thanks so much for writing on this important topic. Not everyone overcomes the torment of past abuse, but those who do will resonate with this poem and those who haven't been able to overcome the pain of the past will find hope in the words that you've written.
BTW: Your new profile pic is absolutely stunning.
Up, awesome, and beautiful Rosemay. A great collection of well written and meaningful poetry. I am quite sure hope will rise from this article. Hope all is well and have a blessed day Rosemay. Catch you later.
I was just feeling so low for the past few days. And it's today only, that I have been able to control myself as the problems have seem to step aside.Reading your poem truly touched my heart ...it was like some one had written my predicament.I can't tell you ....but I really got a new hope.Thanx a lot!

Beautiful Rosemary, Free from the chains of the past..Wonderful...
wow...this is awesome...a very beautiful poem of hope and surpassing life's adversities...you did it again Rosemay...
You have deep feelings about this topic, Rosemay, whether from personal experience or a sense of compassion for others. Your offer words to help heal, and that is so important. I liked this entire poem but particularly this line:
"Now is the time to cast the torment out".
Beautiful work from a beautiful lady and you are beautiful. Hugs, Peg
Rosemay, I find this very sad and distressing, initially, but as each new poem (or part of the greater piece) came forward it made me feel that you have, or shortly will have, been cleansed and had pure closure from a troublesome past.
Lovely, sensitive work.
So sorry ...didn't mean to offend you . But , any hows Rose sounds really better :)
Wow brilliant and I have to award that up up and away here.
Take care and enjoy the rest of your day.
Eddy.
To Rise Again
Takes the strength many times from
a force greater than ourselves. Dousing the flames
of our past is surely a huge step and thus the Phoenix
will be born within our souls and yes indeed it will
suffocate and put out the fires from our past.
To Awaken
Is like angelic music to our ears freeing us
from the grip of the deep and dark Abyss. A newness,
a blessing of relief, the freedom to live and survive and
mature into what God created us to do.
Stepping Through the Door
Taking this most important step
a giant leaf for oneself from the past to your present and leaving all the muck and mire and filth behind, slamming shut the door as I have done in my last piece as Saddlerider. The weathered, peeling ugly door that harboured my monster is buried forever.
Live With a Peaceful heart
Feel alive and listen to your heart and let
it take you to magical places where butterflies float and Lilies sway gently in the noon day breeze. Find and live in peace with yourself, forgive yourself and everyone who hurt you from your past and move forward towards the mark
of heavenly bliss.
Saddle will Answer for himself the 4 questions posted.
1. Yes he knew I hated him
2. No he never cared about anybody or anything but
himself and his rotten soul.
3. No he died a miserable death at the end of his shirt thatwas taken from him and used to strangle him in his cell.
4. My hatred hurt me more than I ever knew possible. It took me all these years to let go. And with the help of my writing, I was able to close the horrible door with a
a very loud slam.
To all of you out there who may be hurting from Abuse know this. There is a way out, there
are people who will help and give you loving support. Don't ever shun them let them take
you in their arms and loving care and together you can fight off these demons that are sent to
us dressed as humans. Forgive yourself and forgive them and move on. You are made in the
image of our creator. Love yourself first and you will always love one another. Peace and
blessings from the Saddlerider. He has turned the torch over to Vincent to carry whilst he is
finally in retirement and enjoying the green pastures provided by his maker
Rosemay, your reply to me brought tears to my eyes.
Bless you, and I am so glad things are beginning to unravel and that you can face the world, and your bleak memories without hatred now.
Wonderful Passages in your Poem Rosemay...Being abused can Never completely go away or disappear, the scars are there...But the Journey is worth the trip. A very Memorable and Heartfelt read. Thank you for sharing.
This is beautiful... so poignant and hopeful... powerful poetry here. Have a blessed day!
Rosemary50 it is a very well written poem.. even though there are so many poems and writes about Phoenix Rising from Ashes.. wow I typed out asses.. glad I caught it phew.. this one stand out from the ashes loudest I loved it :) Frank
Thank You! (smile)
I have been fortunate in that I was never abused or mistreated in any way. I'm thankful for that. I can't imagine how I would react. Could I forgive? I don't know. Goodnight.
Rosemay,
This may be the most poignant piece I have read by you.
I am so proud to be your friend with your capacity to reach out to Vincent from your own experiences and help so many others in the process. Releasing ourselves of the ugly behavior of others is truly the only way any of us can move on from the tragedies of our past.
Your heart is as big as the sky. Your inner peace and calm is a beautiful thing. Love, Maria
Rosemary, I have never been abused so I can only imagine the pain and hate that you have lived with. I am so happy that you have gotten rid of the hate. Hate kills just as surely as a bullet. I had a friend who hated and it killed her. She died from a fast growing cancer. I still miss her and it is many years later. This was a beautiful poem with such meaning.
Your hub is awesome. I guess live for the moment, never think about the past, look forward and march on is the secret to moving on, though very difficult to do. Not impossible. Voted up. Awesome.
This is so magical deep expressive poetry, I am smitten with your exceptional rictameter skills! This is such an overwhelming, emotional journey to which I can sadly relate, love your passionate message, it's very thoughtful of you!

Phoenix is a symbol of resurrection, you have wonderfully used this imagery in your poetry.
"Heal my soul and rise again like" I loved this line very much.
