As I Lay Down My Head - Poetry
58
As I lay Down My Head
As I lay down my head and close my eyes
Drifting into the abyss of tranquil sleep
My body and soul floating towards the skies
My heart is light; it has no more need to weep
For my body feels the warmth of your beside me
My heart feels the overwhelming love that we share
My soul is filled with the joy of knowing thee
Because you and I have found a gift so rare
Our hands exploring, gently caressing, so tender
Lips meeting, drawing the very breath from within
Bodies touching, bringing sighs of sweet surrender
Silk against silk, let our coming together we begin
As we carry each other on a journey of passion
Side by side, holding each other, together as one
Then coming to rest on a black velvet cushion
Softly whispering as our journey has begun
